Clinical Professor of Public Health and Honorary Consultant with Public Health Wales NHS Trust
Ronan led the development of the privacy-protecting SAIL databank in Wales and the use of multi-sectoral data linkage in undertaking previously infeasible large scale studies into the influences of socioeconomic and environmental influences on health and the use of natural experiments to evaluate policies and interventions.
He is Research Director and national lead for the Improving Public Health theme with Health Data Research UK. He was previously Director of the National Centre for Population Health and Wellbeing Research and Deputy Director of the UKCRC funded DECIPher Centre.
