Stephen obtained a degree in exercise physiology and a master of Public health before joining SCPHRP at Edinburgh University in 2015. Prior to joining SCPHRP, Stephen worked as a youth worker in various areas in Edinburgh before joining the team to assist with a number of projects including a review of Scotland’s obesity research and an evaluation of the reformed Scottish school nursing programme amongst others.
Stephen’s current research interests include child and adolescent health and wellbeing, with a particular interest in physical activity and health conditions associated with sedentary behaviour/a lack of physical activity. Stephen currently works at SCPHRP part-time while he is undertaking a Cunningham Trust-funded PhD at the University of Strathclyde investigating the feasibility of a nursery-based obesity prevention programme.
