Rich is a Senior Lecturer in GIS and Health Geographies and leads geography and health research for substantive sites including HDR UK Wales and Northern Ireland, ADR Wales and the National Centre for Population Health and Wellbeing. Rich has overseen the development of the spatial data infrastructure which supports the SAIL databank and facilitates the anonymised linkage of routinely collected health, administrative and spatial data. He also is an active member of the Association of Geographic Information Cymru board which represents interests from cross-sectoral partners (public sector, private industry, education, and higher education) in the UK to promote best practice in the use and re-use of geographic information.
Rich’s research interests focus on understanding the impacts of the built and natural environment on population health using longitudinal spatial modelling and linked health data.
