
Dr Jemma Hawkins

Jemma is a Senior Lecturer in the DECIPHer research centre, based within the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University. She leads DECIPHer’s programme of research and teaching on complex intervention methodology including the Centre’s international short course on developing and evaluating complex interventions. Her research interests and expertise centre around methods for development and evaluation of complex population health interventions, including trial methods, process evaluation methodology and collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to intervention design. Jemma has a particular interest in school and community-based interventions for health improvement, with a focus on physical activity and mental health promotion. She recently held a secondment as a researcher within the Welsh Central South Consortium Joint Education Service. She has also been involved in evaluations of several local government initiatives including programmes providing community-based exercise referral, school holiday meals and activities, and green exercise initiatives.
